Medrie MacPhee's current body of work is a departure from the themes and processes in the paintings of the past ten years and represents an ambitious and fresh approach. Although the subject matter references recent political and social events the paintings retain a private and personal lexicon of imagery.

A New York-based Canadian artist, MacPhee has painted the works for this show in Montreal. She has exhibited extensively both in Canada and internationally, and her work has been featured in periodicals such as Art and America, Artforum, Border Crossings and Contemporary Visual Arts. Her work can be found in the Metropolitan Museum, the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
